Although we don't go on elaborate vacations, we try to take advantage of our close proximity to the southern Appalachians
as much as we can. Most of our get-aways are day trips, when we hike. This picture taken in May, 2003, on the Babel Tower Trail, in the Linville Wilderness of the Pisgah National Forest.
Although most of the summers, we travel to Daytona Beach, FL, last summer we travelled to Kansas to visit Isaac while he was conducting summer research for the REU program at Kansas State University. On the way down we travelled past the awesome Gatway Arch in St. Louis, MO. On the way back, we had a blowout on one back tire, and a slow leak on the other. But driving through a different part of the country was rewarding.
We also were fortunate to take our first trip last summer to Savannah, GA. It was indeed a beautiful place, and Gordon Lightfoot's song Spanish Moss played through our minds as we toured.
